Dr. Douglas N. Hornsby is a radiologist in Miami Beach, Florida and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Miami Jewish Home and Hospital for Aged and Mount Sinai Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Alvaro Garcia, MD, FACS

Colorectal and Rectal Surgeon

He was born in Bogota, Colombia. He attended medical school at the Universidad Central of Venezuela, in Caracas where he graduated as an MD. After graduating from medical school, he decided to further his education in the United States. He began his private practice in Pembroke Pines, Florida in 2009. Following his training at Yale and Georgetown in General Surgery and fellowships in minimal invasive surgery and colorectal surgery at the Colorectal Clinic of Orlando and MD Anderson/ Orlando Regional Medical center, he started the Robotic Program in Colorectal Surgery at the Robotic Institute of South Florida at Memorial Hospital Pembroke where he was featured in the local news in 2010. He practices General and colorectal surgery with emphasis in Robotic and Minimally invasive surgery. He has become increasingly experienced in the repair of inguinal hernia with use of the Davinci Xi, the latest available technology in Robotic surgery . Dr. Garcia prides himself on the open line of communication he has with his patients. His primary concern is the patient’s well-being and he is always willing to answer questions and put patients mind at ease.

Juan Paramo, MD

Surgical Oncology

Dr. Juan Paramo is an attending surgeon in Surgical Oncology at the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center. Board certified in general surgery; Dr. Paramo specializes in the surgical treatment of breast cancer, thyroid cancer, melanoma and sarcoma. He is also an expert in performing operations to treat complex cancer cases including head and neck surgery, endocrine surgery, skin and soft tissue tumor surgery and minimally invasive surgery.  He is one of the few surgeons in South Florida certified in the “hidden scar” surgical techniques for breast cancer.

Dr. Paramo is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology. He is the Chair of the Cancer Committee at the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as a Governor of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Paramo is the Florida State Chair to the Commission on Cancer and past-President of the South Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

Actively engaged in teaching, Dr. Paramo is Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at both the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and at NOVA Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Paramo has authored numerous publications on breast cancer, endocrine surgery, melanoma, thyroid and gastrointestinal cancers.  He is also fluent in Spanish.
